Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software VPN Packet Validation (cisco-sa-asa-ssl-vpn-Y88QOm77)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 186713

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch

According to its self-reported version, Cisco ASA Software is affected by a VPN packet validation vulnerability that could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to send packets with another VPN user's source IP address. This vulnerability is due to improper validation of the packet's inner source IP address after decryption. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted packets through the tunnel. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to send a packet impersonating another VPN user's IP address. It is not possible for the attacker to receive return packets.

Please see the included Cisco BIDs and Cisco Security Advisory for more information.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
