Zyxel USG / ATP / VPN < 5.37 XSS

medium Nessus Plugin ID 186479

Synopsis

The remote security gateway is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

Firmware version of the Zyxel USG, ATP, or VPN is less than 5.37. This means the Zyxel device is vulnerable to the following cross-site scripting vulnerability:

- A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the CGI program could allow an unauthenticated LAN-based attacker to store malicious scripts in a vulnerable device. A successful XSS attack could then result in the stored malicious scripts being executed to steal cookies when the user visits the specific CGI used for dumping ZTP logs. (CVE-2023-35136)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Zyxel USG / ATP / VPN to 5.37 or later.
