Synopsis

The remote Slackware Linux host is missing a security update to seamonkey.

Description

The version of seamonkey installed on the remote host is prior to 2.53.17.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2023-264-03 advisory.

- Heap buffer overflow in WebP in Google Chrome prior to 116.0.5845.187 allowed a remote attacker to perform an out of bounds memory write via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Critical) (CVE-2023-4863)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the affected seamonkey package.
