Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLES12 / SLES_SAP12 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2023:2609-1 advisory.

 - praecis_parse in ntpd/refclock_palisade.c in NTP 4.2.8p15 has an out-of-bounds write. Any attack method would be complex, e.g., with a manipulated GPS receiver. (CVE-2023-26555)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected ntp and / or ntp-doc packages.
