Synopsis

The remote Slackware Linux host is missing a security update to python3.

Description

The version of python3 installed on the remote host is prior to 3.9.17. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2023-159-03 advisory.

- An issue in the urllib.parse component of Python before 3.11.4 allows attackers to bypass blocklisting methods by supplying a URL that starts with blank characters. (CVE-2023-24329)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the affected python3 package.
