medium Nessus Plugin ID 166982

Synopsis

The remote host is affected by an improper access control vulnerability.

Description

The remote host is running a version of FortiOS that is 7.0.x through 7.0.7, or 7.2.x through 7.2.1. It is, therefore, affected by a improper access control vulnerability. An authenticated read-only, remote attacker can exploit this issue, to bypass access controls to execute API commands.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update FortiOS to version 7.0.8, 7.2.1, or later.
