Synopsis

The remote AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote AlmaLinux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALSA-2022:5314 advisory.

 - In Expat (aka libexpat) before 2.4.5, an attacker can trigger stack exhaustion in build_model via a large nesting depth in the DTD element. (CVE-2022-25313)

 - In Expat (aka libexpat) before 2.4.5, there is an integer overflow in copyString. (CVE-2022-25314)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected expat and / or expat-devel packages.
