Synopsis

The remote Slackware Linux host is missing a security update to gnupg2.

Description

The version of gnupg2 installed on the remote host is prior to 2.2.36. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2022-188-01 advisory.

- GnuPG through 2.3.6, in unusual situations where an attacker possesses any secret-key information from a victim's keyring and other constraints (e.g., use of GPGME) are met, allows signature forgery via injection into the status line. (CVE-2022-34903)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the affected gnupg2 package.
