SUSE SLES15 Security Update : kernel (Live Patch 30 for SLE 15 SP1) (SUSE-SU-2022:1593-1)

high Nessus Plugin ID 160987

Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLES15 / SLES_SAP15 host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2022:1593-1 advisory.

- A use-after-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel's FUSE filesystem in the way a user triggers write().
This flaw allows a local user to gain unauthorized access to data from the FUSE filesystem, resulting in privilege escalation. (CVE-2022-1011)

- kernel: failing usercopy allows for use-after-free exploitation (CVE-2022-22942)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel-livepatch-4_12_14-150100_197_111-default package.
