Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version, the Cisco StarOS operating system is affected by a command injection vulnerability due to insufficient input validation of CLI commands. An authenticated, local attacker could exploit this by sending crafted commands to the CLI. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the root user.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug ID CSCvz22969.
