Synopsis

The remote Slackware Linux host is missing a security update to libxml2.

Description

The version of libxml2 installed on the remote host is prior to 2.9.13. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2022-059-01 advisory.

 - valid.c in libxml2 before 2.9.13 has a use-after-free of ID and IDREF attributes. (CVE-2022-23308)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the affected libxml2 package.
