Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 8 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ELSA-2021-4236 advisory.

 - The ppp decapsulator in tcpdump 4.9.3 can be convinced to allocate a large amount of memory.
 (CVE-2020-8037)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected tcpdump package.
