high Nessus Plugin ID 153203
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch

According to its self-reported version, Cisco IOS XR is affected by multiple privilege escalation vulnerabilities due to insufficient validation of user input. An authenticated, local attacker can exploit these to gain root access to the system.

Please see the included Cisco BIDs and Cisco Security Advisory for more information.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug IDs CSCvx48004, CSCvx48007
