Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch (cisco-sa-fxos-cmdinj-pqZvmXCr)

Description

According to its self-reported version, Cisco Firepower Threat Defense is affected by a vulnerability in the CLI that allows an authenticated, local attacker to inject arbitrary commands that are executed with root privileges. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of commands supplied by the user. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to a device and submitting crafted input to the affected command. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute commands on the underlying operating system with root privileges.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug IDs CSCvt69369, CSCvt74037
