The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 11.6.5.3 / 12.1.5.3 / 13.1.3.6 / 14.1.3.1 / 15.1.3. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K48073202 advisory.

 An issue was discovered in drivers/i2c/i2c-core-smbus.c in the Linux kernel before 4.14.15. There is an out of bounds write in the function i2c_smbus_xfer_emulated.(CVE-2017-18551).ImpactThis vulnerability may allow an attacker to overwrite memory beyond the intended buffer.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K48073202.
