Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version and configuration, the Cisco IOS XE software running on the remote device is affected by a denial of service vulnerability in the PROFINET handler for Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) messages. An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker can exploit thisby sending a malicious LLDP message to an affected device to cause the affected device to reload.

Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug ID CSCvr54115.
