New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 5.9
Synopsis
The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch
Description
According to its self-reported version, Cisco IOS XE Software is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability in the application-hosting subsystem due to incomplete input validation of the user payload of CLI commands and improper role-based access control when commands are issued at the command line within the application-hosting subsystem. An authenticated, local attacker could exploit this vulnerability by using a CLI command with crafted user input. A successful exploit could allow the lower-privileged attacker to execute arbitrary CLI commands with root privileges.
