Cisco Data Center Network Manager Privilege Escalation (cisco-sa-20200219-dcnm-priv-esc)

high Nessus Plugin ID 140721

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch

Description

According to its self-reported version, Cisco Data Center Network Manager is prior to version 11.3(1) and is, therefore, affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability in the REST API endpoint due to insufficient access control validation. An authenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating with a low-privilege account and sending a crafted request to the API. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to interact with the API with administrative privileges. Please see the included Cisco BID and Cisco Security Advisory for more information.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug ID CSCvs04007
