According to its self-reported version, Cisco Firepower Extensible Operating System (FXOS) is affected by a software buffer overflow vulnerability due to incorrect bounds checking that are parsed from a specific file. An authenticated, local attacker with with valid administrative credentials can exploit this, by supplying a crafted file, to cause a stack-based buffer overflow that can be used to execute arbitrary code on the underlying operating system with root privileges.Please see the included Cisco BIDs and Cisco Security Advisory for more information.
