ISC BIND 9.16.x < 9.16.4 DoS

medium Nessus Plugin ID 137838

Synopsis

The remote name server is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of ISC BIND installed on the remote host is prior to 9.16.4. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability in its zone transfer functionality due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this issue, to cause a DoS condition on the service.

Solution

Upgrade to ISC BIND version 9.16.4 or later.
