New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 3.6
Synopsis
The remote machine is affected by a vulnerability.
Description
The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version CORE 5.05 / MAIN 5.05, has keepalived packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:
- keepalived 2.0.8 didn't check for pathnames with symlinks when writing data to a temporary file upon a call to PrintData or PrintStats. This allowed local users to overwrite arbitrary files if fs.protected_symlinks is set to 0, as demonstrated by a symlink from /tmp/keepalived.data or /tmp/keepalived.stats to /etc/passwd. (CVE-2018-19044)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL keepalived packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
