Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version, Cisco IOS XE Software is affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability in the Smart Install feature due to improper validation of packet data. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this by sending a crafted packet to an affected device on TCP port 4786 in order to cause the device to reload.
