Cisco TelePresence VCS / Expressway 12.5.x < 12.5.4 XSS

medium Nessus Plugin ID 130258

Synopsis

A video conferencing application running on the remote host is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version, the Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) / Expressway running on the remote host is 12.5.x prior to 12.5.4. It is, therefore, affected by a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability due to improper validation of user-supplied input before returning it to users. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by convincing a user to click a specially crafted URL, to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Cisco TelePresence VCS / Expressway version 12.5.4 or later.
