Synopsis

The remote machine is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version MAIN 4.05, has coreutils packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- A race condition was found in the way su handled the management of child processes. A local authenticated attacker could use this flaw to kill other processes with root privileges under specific conditions.
(CVE-2017-2616)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL coreutils packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
