New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)

Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.

Synopsis

The remote host is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

The remote host is running a FortiOS version prior or equal to 5.4.x or 5.6.x prior to 5.6.11 or 6.x to 6.2.0. It is, therefore, affected by an elevation of privilege vulnerability. An authenticated, remote attacker with admin privileges can exploit this, via restoring a modified configuration, to gain elevated super_admin level privileges.

Solution

Upgrade to Fortinet FortiOS version 5.6.11/6.2.0 or later.
