New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 3.6
SynopsisThe remote name server is affected by an assertion failure vulnerability.
DescriptionAccording to its self-reported version, the instance of ISC BIND 9 running on the remote name server is 9.12.0 or 9.12.1. It is, therefore, affected by an assertion failure vulnerability which exists in the rbtdb.c due to the implementation of the new serve-stale feature and NSEC aggressive negative caching.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this to cause undesirable behavior such as recurision looping or excessive logging, resulting in a degradation or denial of service.
SolutionUpgrade to ISC BIND version 9.12.1-P2 or later.
