Oracle Linux 6 / 7 : Unbreakable Enterprise kernel (ELSA-2019-4315)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 120976

Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 6 / 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ELSA-2019-4315 advisory. - In all Qualcomm products with Android releases from CAF using the Linux kernel, during DMA allocation, due to wrong data type of size, allocation size gets truncated which makes allocation succeed when it should fail. (CVE-2017-9725) - The ext4_iget function in fs/ext4/inode.c in the Linux kernel through 4.15.15 mishandles the case of a root directory with a zero i_links_count, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service (ext4_process_freed_data NULL pointer dereference and OOPS) via a crafted ext4 image. (CVE-2018-1092) - drivers/input/serio/i8042.c in the Linux kernel before 4.12.4 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact because the port->exists value can change after it is validated. (CVE-2017-18079) - In the Linux kernel before 4.7, the amd_gpio_remove function in drivers/pinctrl/pinctrl-amd.c calls the pinctrl_unregister function, leading to a double free. (CVE-2017-18174) - The __munlock_pagevec function in mm/mlock.c in the Linux kernel before 4.11.4 allows local users to cause a denial of service (NR_MLOCK accounting corruption) via crafted use of mlockall and munlockall system calls.
(CVE-2017-18221) - The perf_cpu_time_max_percent_handler function in kernel/events/core.c in the Linux kernel before 4.11 allows local users to cause a denial of service (integer overflow) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a large value, as demonstrated by an incorrect sample-rate calculation. (CVE-2017-18255) - ** DISPUTED ** Race condition in the store_int_with_restart() function in arch/x86/kernel/cpu/mcheck/mce.c in the Linux kernel through 4.15.7 allows local users to cause a denial of service (panic) by leveraging root access to write to the check_interval file in a /sys/devices/system/machinecheck/machinecheck directory. NOTE: a third party has indicated that this report is not security relevant. (CVE-2018-7995) - In the hidp_process_report in bluetooth, there is an integer overflow. This could lead to an out of bounds write with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Product: Android Versions: Android kernel Android ID: A-65853588 References: Upstream kernel. (CVE-2018-9363) - In hid_debug_events_read of drivers/hid/hid-debug.c, there is a possible out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with System execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Product: Android Versions:
Android kernel Android ID: A-71361580. (CVE-2018-9516) Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
