sqlparse is a non-validating SQL parser module for Python. Prior to 0.6.0, group_comments in sqlparse/engine/grouping.py repeatedly rescans comment-only statements before the MAX_GROUPING_TOKENS guard, causing quadratic CPU consumption through sqlparse.parse() and sqlparse.format(sql, strip_comments=True). This issue is fixed in version 0.6.0.

The version of the sqlparse Python library installed on the remote host is prior to 0.6.0. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

  - A denial of service vulnerability exists in sqlparse due to the regular expressions used by the lexer to     match dollar-quoted strings and multiline comments. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this,     by supplying specially crafted SQL input, to cause catastrophic backtracking and exhaust available     resources. (CVE-2026-59893)

  - A denial of service vulnerability exists in sqlparse in the token list handling implemented in     sqlparse/sql.py. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by supplying deeply nested SQL     input, to consume excessive CPU and memory resources. (CVE-2026-54284)

  - A denial of service vulnerability exists in sqlparse in the comment grouping logic implemented in     sqlparse/engine/grouping.py. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by supplying specially     crafted SQL input containing many comments, to consume excessive resources due to repeated rescanning of     the token stream. (CVE-2026-71491)
