The issue is a DNSSEC validation bypass where wildcard expansion proofs (NSEC/NSEC3 records) are accepted without signature validation when the wildcard answer is a CNAME or DNAME record.

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 575ddefc-9085-11f1-b295-98b78501ef2a advisory.

There are packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities referenced in the following CVEs:

  - The issue is a DNSSEC validation bypass where wildcard expansion proofs (NSEC/NSEC3 records) are accepted
    without signature validation when the wildcard answer is a CNAME or DNAME record. (CVE-2026-52686)

  - RRSIGs with too few labels can lead to bypass of DNSSEC wildcard validation (CVE-2026-52688)
