Buffer overflow in the extract_openvpn_cr function in openvpn-cr.c in openvpn-auth-ldap (aka the Three Rings Auth-LDAP plugin for OpenVPN) 2.0.4 allows attackers with a valid LDAP username and who can control the challenge/response password field to pass a string with more than 14 colons into this field and cause a buffer overflow.

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the e915b60e-ea25-11ef-a1c0-0050569f0b83 advisory.

    Graham Northup reports:
    A buffer overflow in extract_openvpn_cr allows attackers with a valid                  LDAP username and who can control the challenge/response password field                  to pass a string with more than 14 colons into this field and cause a                  buffer overflow.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
