Ron Gula - Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technical Officer
Mr. Gula is known in the global security community as a visionary, innovator and engineer of extraordinary talent. He traces his passion for his work in security to starting his career in information security at the National Security Agency conducting penetration tests of government networks and performing advanced vulnerability research.
Since co-founding Tenable Network Security in 2002, Mr. Gula has been CEO and CTO at Tenable, maker of the world renowned Nessus Vulnerability Scanner and Unified Security Monitoring enterprise solution. As CEO/CTO of Tenable, he is responsible for product strategy, research and development, and product design and development. Mr. Gula is also a leader in his community and a passionate advocate for education and scientific research.
Prior to Tenable, Mr. Gula was the original author of the Dragon IDS and CTO of Network Security Wizards which was acquired by Enterasys Networks. At Enterasys, Mr. Gula was Vice President of IDS Products and worked with many top financial, government, security service providers, and commercial companies to help deploy and monitor large IDS installations. Mr. Gula was also the Director of Risk Mitigation for US Internetworking and was responsible for intrusion detection and vulnerability detection for one of the first application service providers. Mr. Gula worked for BBN and GTE Internetworking where he conducted security assessments as a consultant, helped to develop one of the first commercial network honeypots and helped develop security policies for large carrier-class networks. Mr. Gula began his career in information security while working at the National Security Agency.
Mr. Gula has a BS from Clarkson University and an MSEE from the University of Southern Illinois. Ron Gula was the recipient of the 2004 Techno Security Conference "Industry Professional of the Year" award. In SC Magazine's 20th Anniversary Edition, he was named as one of the top market entrepreneurs for the past 20 years.
Jack Huffard - President and Chief Operating Officer
Since co-founding Tenable Network Security in 2002, Jack Huffard has been President and COO at Tenable, maker of the world renowned Nessus Vulnerability Scanner and Unified Security Monitoring enterprise solution. At Tenable, Jack is responsible for driving corporate strategy, business development, marketing, sales and finance.
Prior to Tenable, Mr. Huffard was the Director of Corporate Development for Enterasys Networks/(f.k.a. Cabletron Systems) where he was responsible for the development of investments and acquisitions in the security market for Enterasys. Mr. Huffard worked on the acquisitions of Network Security Wizards (developer of the Dragon IDS) and Indus River Networks during his time at Enterasys. Mr. Huffard worked closely with Mr. Gula on development of corporate strategy for addressing the network security market needs. Prior to Enterasys, Mr. Huffard gained experiences working for HarbourVest Partners, LLC and Microsoft Corporation. Prior to HarbourVest and Microsoft, Mr. Huffard held various management and sales positions at John Hancock and Marriott Corporation.
Mr. Huffard has a BS from Washington and Lee University and a MBA from Babson College.
Renaud Deraison - Chief Research Officer
Mr. Deraison is known in the global security community as the father of the Nessus Vulnerability Scanner. His original creation, Nessus, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2008 and is considered the defacto standard for vulnerability scanning worldwide.
Since co-founding Tenable Network Security in 2002, Mr. Deraison has been Chief Research Officer at Tenable, maker of the world renowned Nessus Vulnerability Scanner and Unified Security Monitoring enterprise solution. At Tenable, Renaud is responsible for driving all vulnerability, configuration and event and log research. In addition, Renaud is instrumental in the design of Tenable's Unified Security Monitoring enterprise solution.
Prior to Tenable, Mr. Deraison was the primary author and visionary of the Nessus vulnerability scanner. Mr. Deraison released the first version of Nessus in the spring of 1998 at the ripe age of 17. He worked for SolSoft, and founded his own computing security consulting company, "Nessus Consulting S.A.R.L.". Under Renaud's leadership, Nessus has won numerous awards, including the 2002 Network Computing "Well Connected" award and PC Magazine's 2003 "Open Source Product of the Year" award. Mr. Deraison also is an editorial board member of the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures Organization, has presented at a variety of security conferences including Blackhat and CanSecWest, and has had his work published in several magazines and books.
Marcus J. Ranum – Chief Security Officer
Marcus J. Ranum is a world-renowned expert on security system design and implementation. Ranum is a pioneer in security technology who was one of the early innovators in firewall, VPN and intrusion detection systems. Since the late 1980s, he has designed a number of groundbreaking security products including the DEC SEAL, the TIS firewall toolkit, the Gauntlet firewall and NFR's Network Flight Recorder intrusion detection system. He has been involved in every level of operations of a security product business, from developer, to founder and CEO of NFR. In SC Magazine's 20th Anniversary Edition, Mr. Ranum was named as one of the top industry pioneers over the last 20 years.
Since joining Tenable Network Security in 2004, Mr. Ranum has been Chief Security Officer at Tenable, maker of the world renowned Nessus Vulnerability Scanner and Unified Security Monitoring enterprise solution. At Tenable, Mr. Ranum is responsible for research in logging tools, product training and product/best practice evangelism. In addition, Marcus is instrumental in the design of Tenable's Unified Security Monitoring enterprise solution.
Prior to Tenable, Mr. Ranum had served as a consultant to many FORTUNE 500 firms and national governments, as well as serving as a guest lecturer and instructor at numerous high-tech conferences. In 2001, he was awarded the TISC "Clue" award for service to the security community, and the ISSA Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Ranum was most recently senior scientist at Trusecure Corp., an international risk management firm. He serves as a technology advisor to a number of start-ups, established concerns and venture capital groups.
John S. Lyons – Vice President of North American Sales
John Lyons joined Tenable Network Security in 2005 and has been instrumental in developing the company's enterprise product sales strategy and culture.
Mr. Lyons has spent most of his professional career in the fields of IT sales and sales management. Over the last 20 years , Mr. Lyons has worked for a variety of companies in the areas of network management, storage, and network security. His experience ranges from larger, established organizations such as VERITAS, Seagate Software, and NetIQ to smaller, early stage companies such as Deltek, Peopleclick, and OpenService. In these roles, Mr. Lyons has managed direct and channel sales teams in both the commercial and Federal vertical markets.
During his career, Mr. Lyons has been certified in a wide variety of sales strategies and philosophies including QBS, SPIN Selling, and Sandler.
Mr. Lyons has a B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA.
Andrew Gabor – Vice President of Finance
Andrew Gabor joined Tenable Network Security in 2010 as the Vice President of Finance. At Tenable, Mr. Gabor serves as the senior executive overseeing all financial operations and reporting.
Mr. Gabor brings over thirty years of financial experience to Tenable. He began his career at Deloitte where he managed the audits of large financial services companies and has served as Vice President of Finance and/or Controller at a host of companies in industries ranging from insurance to software to apparel. In his role at HRH Insurance, he participated in preparing HRH for an IPO, developing and executing an aggressive M&A program and coordinated their SEC filing requirements.
Most recently, Mr. Gabor was a professional services consultant for 8 years serving over 20 companies in the Washington DC region. He was a key member of the M&A team on the WorldCom financial restatement. Mr. Gabor also played major roles in the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley processes at MCI, Washington Gas, Fannie Mae and other companies. As Director of Technical Accounting matters at MorganFranklin Corporation, Mr. Gabor provided guidance to clients in accounting, business process improvement, M&A transactions and financial reporting. Mr. Gabor was involved in business development and was account manager for a large team at Fannie Mae in 2009 and 2010 during a challenging period for that Company.
Mr. Gabor studied Political Science and Economics at Brown University and has a BS in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a licensed CPA.
Jon Brody – Vice President of Marketing
Jon Brody joined Tenable Network Security in 2011 as the Vice President of Marketing. At Tenable, Mr. Brody serves as the senior executive overseeing global marketing strategy and execution. He is responsible for marketing communications, industry analyst relations and global brand management.
For the past 10 years, Mr. Brody has led marketing teams that have established leaders in enterprise middleware, and IT security and compliance. Mr. Brody led marketing at TriCipher Inc, acquired by VMware, transforming the former strong authentication appliance vendor into the leading provider of cloud identity and access management solutions. Mr. Brody's team established Sygate Technologies, freemium consumer personal firewall vendor, as the category leader for enterprise endpoint security, acquired by Symantec. Before joining Sygate, Mr. Brody was Vice President of Marketing at PeerLogic (acquired by Critical Path), an innovator in large scale distributed computing and enterprise application integration solutions.
Mr. Brody has a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University.
John Liccione – Vice President of Services
John Liccione joined Tenable Network Security in 2011 as the Vice President of Services. At Tenable, Mr. Liccione serves as the senior executive overseeing all post-sales customer relations and support strategy and execution. He is responsible for software and SaaS technical support, certification training programs and professional services.
John Liccione is a software executive with a strong track record of bringing to market and delivering award winning software solutions and services to government and industry. He was most recently General Manager of Online Products at Metalogix and also served as President of BPOS Experts, where he was responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for Metalogix's cloud migration software products. Prior to that he served stints as Chief Technology Officer at Cemaphore Systems, Panacya (now Boxtone), and Evergreen Assurance, and served as Vice President of the eBusiness Services hosting business unit at USinternetworking. While at Evergreen Assurance he brought to market a patented, one-click, 15-minute disaster recovery management system that won Secure Computing Magazine's Global award for Best Disaster Recovery Service for in 2004. While at ARINC, Inc., he brought to market a private IP network service called AOCnet that linked together all the major US Airlines with the FAA for real-time flight and schedule data interchange, that was one of the first private Industry-specific Extranets of its kind.
Mr. Liccione has served in the United States Air Force and at the National Security Agency as an intelligence analyst and cryptologic linguist, and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland.
Mark Zuckerman - Associate General Counsel
Since joining Tenable Network Security in 2008, Mark Zuckerman has served as Tenable's lead in legal matters. At Tenable his responsibilities include reviewing and negotiating contracts to ensure an appropriate balance of risk, building and enforcing Tenable's expanding intellectual property portfolio, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Prior to joining Tenable, Mr. Zuckerman served as an associate in the Global Sourcing practice group at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP. There, his practice focused on software licenses, large information technology and business process outsourcings, website terms of service and privacy policies, as well as a variety of other technology agreements.
Mr. Zuckerman has BAs in Economics and Government from the University of Virginia and a JD from Harvard Law School.
