Ansible Configuration File Detected

medium Web App Scanning Plugin ID 115130

Synopsis

Ansible Configuration File Detected

Description

Ansible is an open-source automation tool used for configuration management, application deployment, and task automation. Ansible uses a configuration file (ansible.cfg) to define settings and options for its operation.

The presence of the Ansible configuration file on a system can pose a security risk if it contains sensitive information such as passwords, API keys, or other credentials.

Solution

Ensure that the configuration file is not deployed with the application or, at least, is not exposed in a web server directory by setting proper permissions on it.
