MariaDB Server 5.5.x < 5.5.45 / 10.0.x < 10.0.21 / 10.1.x < 10.1.7 Multiple DoS

medium Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 9299

Synopsis

The remote database server is affected by multiple Denial of Service (DoS) attack vectors.

Description

MariaDB is a community-developed fork of the MySQL relational database. The version of MariaDB installed on the remote host is 5.5.x earlier than 5.5.45, or 10.0.x earlier than 10.0.21, or 10.1.x earlier than 10.1.7, and is therefore affected by the following vulnerabilities :

- A flaw exists in the 'base_list_iterator::next_fast()' function in the file 'sql/sql_parse.cc' that is triggered during the handling of multi-table updates. This may allow an authenticated attacked to crash the server.
- A flaw exists in the 'Item_func_group_concat::fix_fields()' function in 'sql/item_sum.cc' that is triggered during the handling of an argument on the second execution of PS. This may allow an authenticated attacker to crash the server.

Solution

Upgrade to version 10.1.7 or later. If version 10.1.x cannot be obtained, versions 10.0.21 and 5.5.45 have also been patched for these issues.
