Juniper Junos IGMPv3 Protocol Multicast DoS (JSA10714)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 88091
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

According to its self-reported version number, the remote Juniper Junos device is affected by a denial of service vulnerability due to a flaw in the IGMPv3 implementation. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, via a specially crafted IGMPv3 packet, to affect service availability on a portion of a multicast network. Note that IGMPv2 is not affected by this vulnerability.

Apply the relevant Junos software release referenced in Juniper advisory JSA10714.
