Google Chrome < 45.0.2454.101 Multiple Vulnerabilities

medium Nessus Plugin ID 86209

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 45.0.2454.101. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 2015_09_stable-channel-update_24 advisory.

- object-observe.js in Google V8, as used in Google Chrome before 45.0.2454.101, does not properly restrict method calls on access-checked objects, which allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via a (1) observe or (2) getNotifier call. (CVE-2015-1304)

- bindings/core/v8/V8DOMWrapper.h in Blink, as used in Google Chrome before 45.0.2454.101, does not perform a rethrow action to propagate information about a cross-context exception, which allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via a crafted HTML document containing an IFRAME element. (CVE-2015-1303)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 45.0.2454.101 or later.
