Ubuntu 12.04 LTS / 14.04 LTS / 15.04 : bind9 vulnerability (USN-2728-1)

High Nessus Plugin ID 85765

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Hanno Bock discovered that Bind incorrectly handled certain malformed keys when configured to perform DNSSEC validation. A remote attacker could use this issue with specially crafted zone data to cause Bind to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Update the affected bind9 package.
