Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

Fernando Munoz discovered that HTML Tidy incorrectly handled memory.
If a user or automated system were tricked into processing specially crafted data, applications linked against HTML Tidy could be made to crash, leading to a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Solution

Update the affected libtidy-0.99-0, libtidy-dev and / or tidy packages.
