Ubuntu 10.04 LTS / 12.04 LTS / 14.04 LTS / 14.10 : e2fsprogs vulnerabilities (USN-2507-1)

Medium Nessus Plugin ID 81482

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Jose Duart discovered that e2fsprogs incorrectly handled invalid block group descriptor data. A local attacker could use this issue with a crafted filesystem image to possibly execute arbitrary code.
(CVE-2015-0247, CVE-2015-1572).

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Update the affected e2fsprogs package.
