high Nessus Plugin ID 77907
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

Synopsis

The remote Windows host contains a mail client that is affected by a signature forgery vulnerability.

Description

The version of Thunderbird 24.x installed on the remote host is prior to 24.8.1. It is, therefore, affected by a flaw in the Network Security Services (NSS) library, which is due to lenient parsing of ASN.1 values involved in a signature and can lead to the forgery of RSA signatures, such as SSL certificates.

Solution

Upgrade to Thunderbird 24.8.1 or later.
