Synopsis

The remote Windows host contains an application that is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The installed version of Wireshark 1.10.x is a version prior to 1.10.8. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability. A flaw exists with the Metadissector dissector when handling a malformed packet that could allow a remote attacker to crash Wireshark.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Wireshark version 1.10.8 or later.
