Synopsis

The remote host is affected by an Active Directory denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability in Active Directory Services and Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS).

By sending a specially crafted query to the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) service, an attacker can cause the directory service to stop responding until an administrator restarts the service.

Solution

Microsoft has released a set of patches for Windows Vista, 2008, 7, 2008 R2, 8, and 2012.
