Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the remote Juniper Junos device is affected by a denial of service vulnerability when Protocol-Independent Multicast (PIM) is enabled. An attacker, using specially crafted PIM packets subject to NAT, can cause the Flow Daemon (flowd) to crash. Repeated flowd crashes can result in a sustained denial of service against SRX series devices.

Solution

Apply the relevant Junos software release referenced in Juniper advisory JSA10573.
