Apache Tomcat 7.0.x < 7.0.32 XSRF Filter Bypass

high Nessus Plugin ID 63200

Synopsis

The remote Apache Tomcat server is affected by a security bypass vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the instance of Apache Tomcat 7.0 listening on the remote host is prior to 7.0.32. It is, therefore, affected by a security bypass vulnerability due to an error in the file 'filters/CsrfPreventionFilter.java' that allows cross-site request forgery (XSRF) attacks to bypass the filtering. This allows access to protected resources without a session identifier.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update Apache Tomcat to version 7.0.32 or later.
