New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.

SynopsisThe remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.
DescriptionThe Phar extension for PHP does not properly handle crafted tar files, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow. PHP applications processing tar files could crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code.
In addition, this update addresses a regression which caused a crash when accessing a global object that is returned as $this from __get.
SolutionUpgrade the php5 packages.
For the stable distribution (squeeze), this problem has been fixed in version 5.3.3-7+squeeze13.
