New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

Synopsis

The remote Mac OS X host contains a web browser that is potentially affected by an integer overflow vulnerability.

Description

The installed version of Firefox 3.6.x is earlier than 3.6.27 and is, therefore, potentially affected by an integer overflow vulnerability in libpng, a library used by this application. When decompressing certain PNG image files, this could be exploited to crash the application or even execute arbitrary code.

Solution

Upgrade to Firefox 3.6.27 or later.
