Synopsis

The Windows kernel is affected by a vulnerability that could result in privilege escalation.

Description

The remote host is running a Windows kernel version that is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability due to the way the kernel accesses an object that has not been correctly initialized.

A local attacker could exploit this issue by running a specially crafted program on the remote host.

Solution

Microsoft has released a set of patches for 32-bit versions of Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, and 7.
