New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 7
SynopsisThe remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related patches.
DescriptionIt was discovered that the Exim daemon did not correctly handle format strings in DKIM headers. An unauthenticated remote attacker could send specially crafted email to run arbitrary code as the Exim user. The default compiler options for affected releases reduces the vulnerability to a denial of service under most conditions.
Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
SolutionUpdate the affected exim4-daemon-custom, exim4-daemon-heavy and / or exim4-daemon-light packages.
