MS10-028: Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Visio Could Allow Remote Code Execution (980094)

high Nessus Plugin ID 45515

New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

Arbitrary code can be executed on the remote Windows host through Visio.

The remote host contains a version of Microsoft Visio that is affected by multiple memory corruption vulnerabilities.

A remote attacker could exploit this by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted Visio file, resulting in arbitrary code execution.

Microsoft has released a set of patches for Visio 2002, 2003, and 2007.
