Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / 24.04 LTS / 26.04 LTS / 26.10 : ca-certificates update (USN-9001-1)

info Nessus Plugin ID 376949

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / 24.04 LTS / 26.04 LTS / 26.10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-9001-1 advisory.

It was discovered that the ca-certificates JKS integration was not working properly, resulting in CA certificates removed from the system bundle not being removed from the JKS keystore. This update corrects the feature and resyncs the keystore with the system CA certificates list.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected ca-certificates and / or ca-certificates-java packages.
