Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 20.04 LTS / 22.04 LTS / 24.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-8983-1 advisory.

 It was discovered that the Gin CORS middleware incorrectly handled wildcards at the end of origin strings.
 A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to bypass the configured origin restrictions.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected golang-github-gin-contrib-cors-dev package.
